Plastic Healight Lenses

Does anybody know if you can buy or anyone who can produce a set of Plastic Headlight Lenses?!

 

I really want to loose the horrible ally blanking plates i had fitted to the old shell and fit a proper set of headlights which are very lightweight apart from the glass lense, plus i dont want big chunks of glass at the front of the car.

 

It would be easy to make a mould of the inside of a lense to use to create a vacumn formed plastic lense but no one on the island does this.

 

First off, can you buy them in plastic, now if not, secondly, can anyone recommend a well price company who does vacumn forming?!

A guy over this way hillclimbs a 205 and uses the plastic headlight protectors painted to match the car, to blank off the hole left by the missing headlight.

 

Someone here may have a pair that you could paint up and use.

Bloody typical !! I just phoned him about something else and asked him about these for you but he told me he's changed them for a thin ally plate as he had problems keeping them in place.

 

Probably not a good idea unless anyone know's different?

Could always do a group buy if any other racing boys wanted to save some weight or loose the glass....

I am very intrested in such clear plastic lenses/cover as they will open the possibility to convert headlights to

HID projectors. (using Mercedes or BMW HID) Was plannig to make me my own vacuum mod and to form clear plastic lenses,

but never got around it - Much easier if possible to buy ready made lenses if possible.

The company got back to me, if i sent them a good mould they could do them for about £40 a set, is that worth it?!

Should be able to do something, what would you make the mould from ?, a good hard tooling plaster may do it, or we may be able to form over the original glass one, cost would be approx £40.00
