Cameron 16 Posted April 22, 2010 Would have looked so much nicer if the engine was silver, totally clashes IMO. But it does look super clean!
GLPoomobile 958 Posted April 22, 2010 I think you either need a new camera or something to calm your nerves.
SweetBadger 93 Posted April 22, 2010 Looks very nice and clean, but no cambelt cover? Take it from someone who's learnt the hard way it's a quite risk to run without one...
Paul_13 212 1 Cars Posted April 22, 2010 Looks good, would advise on cambelt cover. Is it a S16 engine? Think I have one in shed if your short, PM me i'll probably forget.
Anthony 1,002 Posted April 22, 2010 Is it a S16 engine? Think I have one in shed if your short, PM me i'll probably forget. Nope, 1.9 Mi16 (engine mount, dipstick and oil pressure senders are a giveaway)

Batfink 201 Posted April 22, 2010 love the blue but the red really clashes. What colour blue is that???
blessed6383 0 Posted April 22, 2010 love the blue but the red really clashes. What colour blue is that??? under the bonnet its pageant blue, yer i know the red and blue dont go great but the engine was already painted red from when it was fitted in my old pug (black and red) so didnt want to strip it yet but will do when the winter comes as going for a full body respray and hopefully a supercharger
muddatrucker 125 Posted April 22, 2010 Superman was red and blue, the two colours go and have done for 50 years!

DrSarty 90 1 Cars Posted April 22, 2010 But he did wear his pants over his tights, which is just plain gay. Totally agree with the cambelt cover comments, and that the install looks tidy. Should see you in the next few days Chris for the bottom end stuff plus. Hey...when I'm at yours, would you explain 'yer'.

Hey...when I'm at yours, would you explain 'yer'. thats a very good point sarty haha it is a bit gay but then again he did come from another planet lol how come people think its better to have the cover on as i thought it was only there to stop people working on the car getting things caught in there? i've seen loads of cossies etc running no cambelt cover when using vernier's? The Arch Bishop 0 Posted April 22, 2010 I would imagine a freak occurrence with a stone would probably spell the end of your engine though! I think someone on here scrapped their engine after having an off into a gravel trap and stones being flicked into the cambelt.
SweetBadger 93 Posted April 22, 2010 I would imagine a freak occurrence with a stone would probably spell the end of your engine though! I think someone on here scrapped their engine after having an off into a gravel trap and stones being flicked into the cambelt. That would be me . Didn't scrap the engine, but bent all 8 inlet valves and cost a lot in repairs and my time... Even after the repairs it didn't seem to go as well either so ended up fitting another engine in the end. It really doesn't take much to get in there and cause the belt to slip a tooth or two, a small stone will do the job and there are an awful lot of small stones in a gravel trap; if you're planning on going anywhere near a track covers are a must. Even if you're not I wouldn't take the risk of some road debris getting flicked into the belt - if this happens, even if it doesn't cause the belt to slip, it could be damaged and fail prematurely. Daviewonder 533 3 Cars Posted April 22, 2010 i thought it was only there to stop people working on the car getting things caught in there? If this was the case the alternator would have one too.
blessed6383 0 Posted April 22, 2010 If this was the case the alternator would have one too. true but the alternators alot lower down than the cams isn't it

blessed6383 0 Posted April 22, 2010 I can see your point from crap getting in there as the roads in uk are pretty rough so i might try make up a cover for the bottom half so the pulleys are still out but the bottom of the engine is covered
Daviewonder 533 3 Cars Posted April 22, 2010 Something I've always fancied doing is getting a hole saw and cutting two big holes in the cover so you can see the pulleys through it
24seven 104 Posted April 22, 2010 Looks clean and tidy, but I'm not a bit fan of painting engines bright red, particularly the head. Clean ally is the best look imo, and it still makes finding any leaks just as easy.
