Bulkhead Holes

Anyone out there with ABS know where the loom is meant to go through the bulkhead? Just stripped the soundproofing off to reveal a very bodged hole which the rubber grommet was never going to fit. There are a couple of spare holes but none the right size. The grommet is the same type as the ECU and fuse box ones, (ie large and round)!

You know there is a rubber plug kinda in the middle as you look at the bulkhead? From the front that is. There is a smaller one that will be below it to the left. It's between the heater matrix holes and the other one at the top basically.

I'm not sure that non-ABS cars have the hole present in the bulkhead - certainly when I removed ABS from a friends car during a reshell, the hole was present on his K-plate car with ABS, but not on his J-plate car without ABS. The 2-pin wiring connector that plugs into the ABS loom was present on the non-ABS car though, and I think is there on all Phase 2's

You do mean the one that has the heat shield on it yes? Above the exhaust manifold? I'm not even entirely sure what is it for...

Mine had ABS, it's located pretty much in the middle of the bulkhead behind the exhaust.

 

There's an abestos looking cover secured by 2 10mm bolts, made a handy hole to feed brake line through

 

Be careful not to breath in to deep if it is abestos.

Excuse the crudeness of the photo, i'm sorry i couldn't get a better one. I'm at work all day tomorrow and i can't take my air filter box off at the mo.

Hopefully you can get the gist of where it is? Right next to the heater matrix hoses.

Yup thats the one! Looks like its in the same place as mine but mine's been done with a circle of 6mm drill holes and so the rubber grommet doesnt fit. I know my car is a reshell but clearly the shell was a non ABS and they've done a rush job on it. I'm going to take a photo of the bulkhead and we can name the holes as there are more on mine that aren't used but have no plugs either! When I was running the car I had bad engine fumes in the car, no surprise looking at the bulkhead. I'll do the photo in a bit, name what I can the post it and see what people think!

thanks for you help guys, at least i know the ABS is in the right place. It would be cool to find out what the others are though. Also if anyone has rubber plugs for them as they're not used!

The two small holes above the exhaust tunnel:-

The round one is for the heater drain tube if air con fitted, so normally has a grommet fitted.

The oval hole i think is for the lift up reverse cable on BE1 gearboxs.

Ok, seems i'm missing the drain pipe for the air con. Anyone got one spare??
