Identify This Diesel Engine

Trying to figure out what diesel engine this is..... It's a 1994/95 Mardi Gras but the block had paiinnt on it to suggest a replacement. Also the fuel filter is beside the oil filler not the usual place. There is also the hand primer there too. Did Peugeot change bits of the 205 diesel to that of the later 306 1.9 diesel or is this a 1.9D? My reason is that the PAS is situated on the right hand side mounted to the gearbox and driven by the cam pulley which is also driving another belt connected to strange round thing on the PAS system.... (i know.. all very technical terms) So.... Is all this s*it gonna be able to swap onto my Mi16 engine 205 without hassle......

Anyone use the same PAS?

Looks like a standard N/A mechanical fuel injected diesel engine. The "thing" attached to the cam pulley will be the vacuum pump. I dont think you will have any problems other than having to change the fuel tank than if it was a normal gti. I would lose the power steering ram on the rack and all the pipe work. Good look with it.

yeah it doesnt look too different from any other XUD lump. There are a few varients depending on year and vehicle fitted too but they are pretty much similar.

With the exception of the inlet plastic thing mine has got, looks identical to the 1.9 non Turbo in my 405 (95) with the filter there it is a later one I think my older 92 405 engine looked quite different.

as mentioned, looks to be a standard late 205 diesel engine.

Peugeot used many a paint mark in the factory to identify parts :D

The only thing I'm taking from the car is the power steering to put in my Mi powered GTi. Not putting an Mi in this car.

So the vacumn pump isn't part of the pas then? So I don't need it then i take it... There isn't one on my other 1992 diesel though.

You wont need the vacuum pump, and i bet there will be one on your other diesel, just in a different place. The servo on your mi will take the vacuum from the inlet manifold. Diesel engines dont have any vacuum in the inlet as there is no butterfly to create the negative pressure so a engine driven vacuum pump is needed. I think its more trouble than its worth trying to get the pump setup of the diesel to work on your mi. Id look at getting the more conventional set up using the alternator belt as the drive.
