Need Advice About My Subframe

Recommended Posts

blessed6383

right think this is a bit of a major issue as dont think it will hold or be safe

where my subframe bolts to the body the is no nut or thread in the drivers side front mounting point so it has movement in it! the other 3 points are bolted up tight but it still move on that part where there is no bolt in it and have not yet dropped the lump in can not really put a new thread in as there prob ony 1-2mm on metal there and its welded to the ody so didnt want to take a grinder to it and re-weld as dont know if this will affect the handling and general set up of the front ride hight any ideas guy would be very helpfull i thought about just welding that part of the subframe to the body but will cause problems if ever have to remove subframe in future.

You can replace the captive nuts.

Take the subframe off (or loosen it enough to pull it down) and have a look at the hole, there will be a round hole where the bolt goes, then behind that there will be a rectangular hole where you put the captive nut in.

The old captive nut holder might still be there, they do come out though.

Lift up the carpet/underlay etc and you'll see what you need to replace.

No problem with the amount of info, to be honest the more the better.

It was just how you laid it out and the lack of punctuation made it difficult to read.

Try adding some commas next time! See how this text of mine is much easier to read quickly.
