I think it is hard to save the window rubber. My bodyman asked me to be sure that I could get a new one before he removed mine [via the cheese wire way]. It meant he didn't have to worry about damaging the rubber when I had a new one sitting for it. Would you not be better with a new one anyhow if you are painting? The old one may be hard, cracked and shrunk and not go in nice again. The screen is bonded in behind it btw.

Or ask the window people to remove it, im not certain but wont it cost as much to smash it then replace than getting someone to do the job for you ?

I am dragging this back up as I need to replace my rear screen due to the demisting elements not working well.

Now I know I could just phone up and get one fitted but ideally I would like a genuine one. It looks like the bronze tint ones are not available from pug anymore so i will have to be on the look out for a second hand one. Maybe a whole tailgate.

I see the outside seal/weatherstrip is still available from peugeot part no. 8745 37 anyone know a price for this?

My question is how does the seal/weatherstrip come out? and what would I use to bond the new (second hand) screen back in? Will people or companies do this for me or will they only fit supplied screens?

Screen seal will just pull out.

Get your local independent screen fitter to get old out and put your new screen in (that you supply).

£30 is what I usually pay for this.

Andy a windscreen company will have a new window on there shelves surely?

I found a genuine one but I doubt there isn't much difference in quality.

Yer they will I have found them available.

It's not really the quality that bothers me - I know I am being picky but I would like to keep the lion logo printed on the glass to match all the other windows.

As said, when I removed mine I used some auto glass cheese wire I had hanging around. You remove the seal, make a small hole and just slice through the bonding.

Ok cheers guys. Think I have got it all:

- can still buy the seal.

- Use cheese wire to carefully remove old screen

- Get a company to bonfd in new screen

Thanks just have to find a suitable rear screen now.

Andy I will check to see if only on a slightest off chance there is some UK stock of genuine windows and let you know.

I spoke to a chap on this last week, think he's called MMunro and he sells rear screens for about 180 quid am sure he said.

Cheers mate, although they might be a bit out of my price range...

Yer I think I saw his the other week on his website? However if I was going to go through the non genuine route I would probably use my local supplier.

I paid £60 for my screen so there is deals out there, but I would doubt any UK dealers will have one as there pretty useless.
