Gti6-vts Water Distribution Union

Recommended Posts

The problem is mines broken and suppliers can't find part nos as i've only got the vts engine with no reg no or chassis no. Are they all the same or do they vary. Miles suggested fitting a 205 one which would allow the heater pipes to stay the same but he was not which one i would need to use. I've got all my bits together to drop the engine in but this is holding me up. Any help would be welcome.

Cheers :)

Are you using the water pipe that runs from thermo housing to water distribution block across back of block just under exhaust manifold???? :)

If you are you want a 306 TD one,part number1336 PO ;)

Matching seal 1339 83

This distribution block has two connections on top, then small one to pipe that goes to thermo housing, then big one to bottom of rad :D

I have this one for my conversion but after doing a thermostat info thread, i was told to use the gti 6 water distribution block and metal pipe with BBM gti 6 hose kits ?

There does not seem to be a thread explaining what is needed for the GTI 6/VTS engine conversion water system, just dribs and drabs etc, pictures would help too.

I think ill do one once i know exactly whats needed & when i have the parts ill get pictures posted too.

My CTI has a 4 port one fitted and one of the verticals blanked off. I know this as the lower hose popped off on me in traffic the other day :@ At least my coolant has now been changed!

Hi Ali,

Your not the only one thats a little confused with it. Iv decided to use the S16 water manifold with the S16 metal water pipe that goes from the water manifold to the back of the thermostat, this is to avoid the heat from the exhaust manifold. I dont have a BBM hose set myself, so i cant say what its like. However i have been told via Miles that the BBM GTI6 hose kit is meant to be used with the GTI6 metal pipes and water manifold. Check out my thermostat thread.

The one you have will still work im sure with a bit of bodging with fitting to the GTI6 BBM kit ?

As soon as Stew205 is back online i will know more.

I wish i could tell you whats on mine but as the first guy messed up doing my conversion i had to have it all redone. A lot of stuff has been changed but i will take a look to see. What ever has been fitted works well and looks a hell of a lot better than the first attempt. All the hoses look neat & tidy now! :D

You need the original GTi6 one to use the BBM set up.

Does using the BBM GTI6 set up mean it still clears the manifold or do you need to use the S16 metal pipe to clear the manifold ? Im not keen on using the 6 BBM set with a T piece to split them up as the gti 6 water distribution block only has 2 ports ?

I like the idea of using the S18 water distribution housing with the S16 metal water pipe that clips to the top of the head.

Im going to contact BBM when Stew gets back from holiday to get a clear view of what the GTI6 BBM set up includes etc..

there's no t-piece required, the hose in the BBM kit is made so you don't need to use one, it uses the original gti6/vts water distribution housing and metal pipe across the back of the block.

NO S16 bits required whatsoever.

Mine does not have the metal pipe or 6 water block, the previous person that tried to convert the engine didn't do things quite right it seems.

Looking at my 306 gti6 cars engine tonight after being stored for the winter i looked at the back and no metal pipe, although there were covered rubber hoses coming out from the heat shield.

There should be a single water outlet on the back, a small rubber hose, then the metal pipe and that connects to the hose kit.

Those kit looks like this
