Magnex Exhaust Manifold & Mot

Recommended Posts

stutto

My car currently has a four branch magnex exhaust manifold fitted, with the rest of the system being magnex.

It seems louder than it used to be, it does not bother me but my MoT is soon and I was wondering if anyone had any advice or tips on how to quieten it down.

(Last year it passed with a standard downpipe cut and clamped to the exhaust)

I thinking if there was some kind of flexible sealant / wrap that could be applied to the knuckle, as it seems like a lot of the noise comes from there.

or will I have to give in, buy another fitting kit and put the standard manifold back on?

If it it blowing from the knuckle try adding or replacing the springs to pull the knuckle tighter together. This should stop it from blowing.

Thanks for the reminder, I bought a pair because I had lost a spring (rusted then snapped) but stretched one too much.

I now have another pair waiting to be fitted and will be more careful this time!

Mate of mine had is manifold magnex start blowing from inside the box section where the 4 pipes meet.Ended up cutting it and rewelding the inside back together.

I've changed the springs but it does not seem much quieter.

I can't see any obvious leakage on a cold morning.

The baffles traditionally go in a Magnex.
