Undoing Hub Nuts

A man sized bar is what you need and a broken paving slab to hold the wheel still:

If you're doing it on centreless wheels though then get someone to hold the brake pedal down while you crack it off.

3/4" drive stuff with some kind of extension bar makes it all very easy, no need to make home brew tools that you will rarely use. 1/2" drive stuff can snap quite easily if the nut is very tight.

That.

3/4" is very useful. Occasionally i need to get the 4ft and 6ft scaffold persuaders out too, but i don't ever any issues anymore. ;)

after a bit of hammering at the staked nut it came undone fairly easily with the help of a four foot scaffolding pole. No broken breaker bars either - very impressed!

Grrrr, bloody garage can't press in the bearings till Friday Arvo. Anyone want to earn a crispy tenner in the Brighton area?

If they are doing it for a tenner I'd wait. The last few sets of Peugeot wheel bearings I have done have been absolute pigs. From now on I will be charging by the hour to do them for as long as it takes.

I just use my old hammering ratchet and mallet to crack them easy!
