Missing Air Temperature Control Unit

Basically my 205 has always been very noisy and there was clearly something missing from under the bonnet, I have the Air Temperature Control Unit re-attached (not sure why it was disconnected in the first place) but the pipe coming from it (marked with orange arrow) is nowhere to be seen - does it have a specific name so I can source a replacement?

Also unlike the picture (green arrow 1) my car doesn't have wires coming out of the end of the air cleaner cover (rather a 'U' wire coming out and going straight back in) instead of where it would appear it connects to the ATC (green arrow 2) in the picture (where it looks a bit like the top of a tank) does this need to be connected to something? I don't want to re-attach it all if its going to cause problems without.

I'm guessing there must of been a reason it was taken off.

Apologies for my complete amateurness.

Non of this should affect noisyness really.

The "wires" of which you speak are actually vacuum pipes, the top one should control the flow of hot and cold air between normal inlet and the manifold cover.

bottom one attaches to another vacuum pipe which is just to the left of the oil breather pipe in your picture by way of a t-piece.

This leads to the inlet from memory, hard to remember now i run a K&N which doesnt use any of this system.

I have the pipe you are missing if you want one, only advantage of it is that it should aid running whilst the engine is cold
