Front Hubs And Hub Carriers

Recommended Posts

A right pain for you's to work out lol

I've had a slight knock on the suspension for about year and I think I've gradually tracked down the culprit which might be the N/S Hub or Carrier. After checking and replacing Worn parts like Drop Links, Anti Roll Bar Bushes the knock still persists. As both Driveshafts were replaced last year due to wear in the C.V. Joints I've ruled that out.

Is there any difference between Phase 1, 1.5 or 2 Hubs and Carriers orare they standard throughout the range of 205's?

Any help on this would be appreciated.

Car is -

205 1.6 Gti

G reg = 1990 (Phase 1.5)

Thx in advance

All 1.6 GTi hubs are the same, with the exception of ABS models.

1.9 GTi and non-GTi (base model) hubs are different.

309 GTi hubs are the same as 205 1.9 GTi hubs.

So any 1.6 Gti hubs will fit is that right

Yes, any non-ABS 1.6 GTi hub will fit fine.

Surely the hub and hub carrier are the same thing?

The bearing fits into the hub/hub carrier, and everything else (wishbone balljoint, driveshaft, track rod end etc) all fit into or attach to the hub carrier as well.

hub is the drive flange, 1.6 specific, hub carrier = thing the wheel-bearing and hub are pressed into, not 1.6 specific, fits TU as well with the correct drive flange/hub <_<
