Oil Temperature...help?!

Recommended Posts

sharpy

Hi, have got a 205 gti with a 306 gti 6 engine in. I have standard 205 gti clocks, and the oil temperature guage hasn't seemed to move before now (asumed it didn't work, people who wired clocks in said it's different some how :S ) ... but now with this hot weather, when i have been driving hard for a bit it seems to go to just below half on the guage....Is this normal ? :S Pleeeease help, thanks alot :)

Sounds fine to me - don't really need to worry until it's in the final third of the gauge really.

hmmm ye i suppose. Just never gone up before now, well not really. I accept its alot lot warmer outside and that would be a factor, just wundered as the guages aren't necessarily wired in or the same as due to it being different, bigger engine. Any one got any ideas? :S

the thicker mark around the half way mark is 90deg... which is operating temp for oil (80deg -100deg)

Sounds about right, mine went up yesterday for the first time since winter, the idle pressure dropped slightly too which I put down to the oil being warmer and thinner.
