Mot Emissions

Recommended Posts

Failed my restest today for my mot, on emissions.

I managed to get the co down but the hydrocarbons are still over 5k. I know hydrocarbons means unburnt fuel bt on a map which I have reduced the fueling on what else can I do?

I'm on emerald, mi16 1.9, jenvey itbs. It hasn't been mapped yet as I'm awaiting a pay packet. So I'm looking for a map to get me through the mot.

I have got a few maps which are floating around in the forum. I have a 2.0 mi on jenveys map loaded now and have done the f8 and 2 jobbie :-) and it still didn't work.

I'm looking for someone to shed some light on what else I can do please.

Aaron

Alter the ignition timing. Ignition timing too retarded at idle will cause unburned fuel to pass into the exhaust. Assuming your engine is otherwise healthy a swing in timing should sort your problem.

Just select the values in the ignition map and alter them upwards. There are a number of ways to do it in the Emerald software.

I think I have found what is going on here. Oil is making it's way into the cylinder. This is putting the emissions sky high!

Now...valve seals have been replaced but the piston rings could be shot in 1 or more cylinder. :-(

has anyone locally got a leak tester? To tell me which ones failing
