Fan Switch Temperature Identification.

Recommended Posts

davemar

My fan switch in the radiator appears to have died. If I disconnect the connector on the switch and short the contacts the fan comes on, so the rest of the wiring is fine.

I'm not entirely sure which temperature version of the switch I've got, is there an easy way to identify it? I don't bother running it in the two-speed mode, it

just kicks in full power as a sensible temperature, so would like to get my hands on the same part if possible.

I'm running a 205 1.9 GTi with a Mi16 engine. So it's got the normal 1.9 radiator.

Also how much are these switches from Peugeot?

The temp range is stamped on the brass part of the switch on the side but you'll probably have to give it a good clean to see it.

If it's the later style switch, then the coloured band indicates the temperature range as well.

For example, the purple banded switches are 92 degree slow-speed, and 97 degree high-speed.

Mine appears to have a red band, so what temperature will that be?

I don't have one to hand to check, but from memory it's 97 degrees slow speed, and 102 degrees full speed.
