Anyone got any ideas how to stop paint lacquer peeling. It's spreading like wildfire.

Anyone got any ideas how to stop paint lacquer peeling. It's spreading like wildfire.

 

Flat back and relacquer the entire panel is the only real option.

Flat back and relacquer the entire panel is the only real option.

 

I was advised against doing this by a painter as the lacquer peel could have been caused by a problem with the "basecoat"(?) and it could happen again if relacquered.

Most of the pugs I've seen with peeling lacquer were just from s*it adhesion to the basecoat - it just lifts up at one edge once a bit of frost forms under it and the lacquer just comes off in big sheets...
