Does the light ever come on, or just the needle dropping off and coming back up?

Given that 1.9 8v engines aren't exactly known for suffering from oil surge, I wonder if it's the gauge lying to you and it's actually the wiring/sender playing silly-sods - if the needle drops to nothing and the light doesn't come on, that's a big giveaway. The wiring for the sensors on an 8v loom is a bit shoddy to say the least and causes lots of issues.

First things first though, top the oil level upto maximum and see if that helps at all (although an 8v should be fine so long as it's above minimum tbh). Also worth double checking that you have the correct dip stick - I can't remember the length off the top of my head, but 8v dipsticks normally have an orange top on them.

And, get a 22mm on a ratchet and make sure the lower pulley bolt is done up to FT spec.

the warning light doesnt come on it just drops off and comes back.

Its got the correct dipstick the one with the orange top.

Ill put a bit more oil and see what happens.

Is it worth changing the sender and where is it ????

Sender is the mushroom shaped thing under the inlet manifold to the right of the alternator, there's 2 items on the block with spade connectors, the pressure sender is the right one, the one on the left is the 'Stop' light sender.
