Ignition Wiring Help Needed

Recommended Posts

tdr_1976

The ignition in my 205 has been wired to a three way switch [Off, Ignition on, Flick to start], the reason for this was that the previous owner's mate went and snapped the key in the ignition at the petrol station, and to get home he chiselled the barrel out of the column and wired the switch in.

It worked well up until last weekend and refused to stop at the end of the event I was on, which was embarrassing!

It was something that I've been meaning to get sorted, but never got around to it for doing other bits on the car.

So, the time has now come to sort it out with the original barrel that I was given with the car, after they had got the rest of the key out

Long term plan is to put a switch panel on that's got a separate ignition switch on with a rubber start button and electrical isolation kill switch.

I've taken the switch off the dashboard, but the wiring that was done is utterly amateur.

I haven't a clue what wires I need to connect to where, so I've taken a few pics to show what I have to work with, I'm hoping someone can come to my rescue and tell me where I need to connect these wires.....

Hi,

If you have the standard barrel on with factory connectors, you can just disconnect and reconnect the white and brown connectors, no diagrams needed!
