Knakerd Beam

Recommended Posts

hi guyes and gals, i know this has been asked a thousand times but i'v done

a search and not got the exact answer i was looking for,

i noticed about a month ago that the drivers side wheel was

"sticking out at the top"(thats a technical term) and has now

ruined my tyre, money at the moment is VERY tight so i cant

afford to rebuild the entire thing so my question is:

what is the absolute minimum i will have to replace

to make it ok again?

cheers

If the wheel is sticking outwards (ie away from the body) at the top, then that's positive camber.

Normally, the cause of that is a bent stub axle, usually from slamming sideways into a curb.

Knackered beams are usually signified by the wheel leaning inwards (ie towards the body) at the top, because the bearings have collapsed. There can of course be other symptoms, all of which have been discussed in depth in the past.

ok thanks for your reply but the car has not been slid into a curb or

anything like that, i just came out of my house one day and noticed

the wheel poking out! since then the tyre started wearing badly on the outside,

the car is parked on a driveway incase you think someone might have crashed into it.

any further advice would be much appreciated

cheers
