Later Eccentric Tensioner

just thought i,d check the condition of my belt visually b4 i get round to changing it,,, it looked ok but seemed very slack you could nearly pull it off the cam sprocket, i took the bottom cover off well nearly the crank pulley was inthe way trying all my spanners on the tensioner bolt i found out none were fitting hmmmm tried my allen keys and couldnt get them to fit either so tried some torx bits t40 seemed to fit but not brilliantlly so after tightening the belt and then tightening the bolt im stlli worried i havnt tightened the bolt enough ,, is it a torx bolt or a hex ,,and do any of you use this tensioning tool haynes goes on abouts or is it ok when it twists 90 deg... cheers

The eccentric rollers have a square drive in them iirc, the same size as the sump plug iirc (8mm) but its been a whle since I did one so can't remember 100%. :)

 

I've never used the tensioning tool (becauise I don't have one) & a local Pug specialists said when he used to work at Citroen they never used them either because they were rubbish.

 

I recently replaced the belt on my car with the sprung tensioner & it would be a struggle to turn it to 90' but it does twist quite a bit.

 

Can you please write your posts with a bit more punctuation & line spaces so they are easier to read, tat way you might get a quicker repsonse.
