Motorsport Overload

Recommended Posts

Well what a day today is, not only is it Easter Sunday so a strict diet of chocolate based eggs will be adhered to but there is a plethora of motorsport based telly to be watched.

I am watching the big pricks on the box at the moment before a 10am start at work...well it is a Sunday, then I'll plug the old laptop in and watch bits of the 6 hours of BTCC coverage from Thruxton whilst consuming more chocolate and working.

Then it'll be home for 6ish to consume some proper food and watch the WRC from Jordan

All in all a good days viewing, just a shame I have to work as well.

Anyone else hoping to have a day in front of the box?

Just starting on ITV4 now. I'll be interested to how Chilton in the Turbo LPG fares against them. No defending Champion this year either!

Well my day didn't quite go to plan.

No one bought me an Easter egg so no chocolate...bad times. :(

We were busy at work so the most I got to watch was a Clio Cup race whilst eating my lunch.

Got home and watched the first touring car race...good times. :P

What an interesting race that was, Plato played it well and was just clam and didn't try anything silly and just watched the rest of the contenders fall off in front of him...all apart from Gio who played a blinder. Having not had any seat time all winter and just about getting his race licence sorted in time you'd have to say he was the star of race one.

The NGTC engined cars looked to be going very well, until Andy Jordan got punted off. The Focus' went well too but came a cropper with the whole too much camber and tyre wear scenario as did the Hondas.

Anyhow I'll have to get on and watch the other 5 and a half hours of coverage later on today if I get time!

Shows what the field is like when you can consider this monster to be 'humble' !!!

The Evos coming into Quarry sounded more like jet fighters than cars! Amazing machines but not my cup of tea.

Ed, is this your handywork then or have I got the wrong car??

My day got worse.

Went home after work yesterday to enjoy some more of the TOCA support races, the Ginetta Jnrs is a fantastic series as are the G50's.

My Sky box had other ideas.

It let me watch an hour of BTCC on Sunday night but last night it wouldn't even let me watch the hour that I had already watched....or any of the other 5 hours it recorded.

After lots of frantic unplugging and pressing of buttons and nearly launching the box accross the living room I declared I wouldn't be able to watch any mor of the touring cars. I watched WRC Jordan instead, not quite as exciting but better than I thought it might be!

Luckily BTCC is on again today on ITV 4 but it will only show the three BTCC races and none of the support stuff.

Bugger!

Yep, pretty impressive, was taking a great wide line into Quarry to fire his way out past the Evo before the Esses!

During the day I walked right round from the Esses past Quarry round to Bobbies via the paddock and only saw the grey one that doesn't appear to belong to any of us above (despite the 205gtidrivers sticker in the window).... think I must be going blind!

Maybe we ought to get organised and announce our intention of attending an event beforehand next time eh!

Gurston Down 17th/ 18th April??

I guess Ed will post this up himself if I don't but Simon Tilling has put up the entire race video of his win here. Worth sitting through.... tardy start didn't make life easy for him!

That sums the race up for me nicely I think.

Also nice to see the college team getting back in to the swing of things, pole and second for the two speccys and not far off for daves first outting in the swift. Congratulations to Ben for doing it again, 11 seconds ahead of the pack!

Wont be at gurston unfortunatly, but we will be out at silverstone next weekend for the open sports car series!
