Anyone Got A Guide For Fitting Electric Windows

As title. Purchased another diesel 205. Late 1994 with PAS and electric windows.

It's a 5 door so windows are smaller. Can I use the motor etc to convert my manual windows on my GTi to electric. Is there a guide anywhere or has anyone done it.

In answer to your question im not sure if its possible, wouldnt be straight forward thats for sure, far easier just to find some 3dr motors, think theres some in the forsale section. You would be able to use the looms however, just need to extend the central locking wires for each door by around 8" assuming your gti is also a 92' onwards and has the large round door plugs.

im fairly sure i remember someone saying they fitted 5 door electric window motors into a 3door shell, it wouldnt be impossible...

I think it would be possible but you would have to drill out the pivot arm and then reattach one from your manual 3 door to get the lift right. However it may work, but your two rollers that go in the channel at the bottom of the window may be very close together when it is up and it may not come down fully / rollers drop off the end of the channel. All I can say is try a motor in a door, feeding 12volts to it to wind it up and down "manually" before going any further.

Pop the door card at the bottom from the door on its push studs

Lift up over door pin

unscrew old window winders 3 nuts and fiddle about in the hold at the bottom of the door to release the mechanism.

 

There are two rollers that sit in a channel that runs horizontal to the bottom of the glass. These need to come out of the ends of the channel

 

Oh and you can't fit the motors onto 3dr manual mechanisms as the winder spindle is too long
