Hi chaps,

I'm currently rebuilding a 1.9 XU 8valve engine with a Longman head. I could do with idetifying the cam so i can time it in properly.I think the numbers on the end say PTS 7048 but they are a bit blurred. Any ideas?

Cheers

Mike

CTS 7048 was listed as "wide band gravel", it's their gravel spec cam with a wider spread of torque than the CTS 7040 which was the tarmac cam.

On the subject, and apologies for poaching the thread Mike! Does anyone know what a Longman GpA/2 cam should be?

IIRC this cam is 288 duration, ~12mm lift and 3.6 lift at TDC, Sean Mckeown used one in one incarnation of his engines and Sandy might be able to advise a little more as I think he did measure it.

I hope you've got 1.6 pistons or forged ones, as it wont work very well at all with stock compression.

If it's the same as the Piper GPA2 cam, the specs are as follows:

P16GPA2 - Group A Rally

Power Band = 3000-7600

308 degrees duration (both inlet and exhaust)

12.45mm lift (both inlet and exhaust)

4.72mm lift @ TDC (inlet) and 4.57mm lift @ TDC (exhaust)

Shimmed to 0.2mm (inlet) and 0.25mm (exhaust)

Thanks for the replies so far. Does anyone know the timing figures for the CTS 7048?

Cheers

Mike
