Starter Motor

Hi guys,

 

Well i got up this morning went out to my car and the thing wouldnt turn over at all. So i'm looking at replacing the starter motor ... but i was told a pug 106 starter motor would work. I contacted the local scrapper and he has one for a tenner, but it's a pug 106 mk2 1.2 starter motor. Would this work on my 1989 F reg pug 205 1.6 gti ?

 

If so would i need to change anything ? or mod anything ?

No - 106's use TU series engines, whereas 205 GTi's use an XU series

 

1.8 and 2.0 306/Xsara/406 starters (pre 2000 odd) will fit fine, you just need to swap the spade connector for a ring terminal.
