205 Turbo Derv Rev Counter

Dads got a 205 tubo diesel, think its a 1.9? anyone know where the pick up for the rev counter is? a mate has said the alternator? want to check the "feed" before i pull the clocks out and check them!!

more likely to be a 1.8, and Peugeot don't use the alternator for the rev counter, they use a TDC sensor which is on the rear face of the block same as the 8 valve gti diagnostic sensor.

just had a look on servicebox, do's it go into the gearbox like on mi16?

not quite, further round towards the back.

Get a known working sensor and cut the plug off where it joins to loom and that might solve your problem. It worked with my mates STDT, the rev counter was dead till he did this
