Need Some Help/advice With The Vts

my xsara vts seems to get up to temp quite quicky (a spirited 10min drive will do it) now i know they have oil water heat exchangers to enable to oil to get up to temp quickly but should it be this hot this quick.

 

the water temp sits just over the 2nd line (90?) and the oil sits just over the 2nd line (100?) it doesnt over heat but the heat is causing some other problems under the bonnet. the idle is very high when its hot sometimes over 1500rpm and the brakes are binding too and feel almost solid under the foot (im sure this isnt related with the engine temp)

 

would and oil and water change help the situation with the hot oil ?

 

and would lubing the sliders make the brakes better or would i need new fluid and pads etc?

 

its lovely to drive when cold but once heated up its a bag of crap and with summer approahing i dont want it to get any worse.

My Xsara VTS always ran hot according to the gauges, never had any bother though.
