A Couple Of Issues...

Recommended Posts

My 205 seems to knock, quite high pitched almost a click, when backing off the throttle. Sounds like its coming from the drivers side, could it be an inner CV? It would make sense as the boot burst a few months back and I replaced the boot and refilled with CV grease. Its the first time i've used the car on the road as i'm doing a 12 car in it tonight so I couldn't really say how long it's been happening for!

Also, when driving back to uni the oil pressure light came on so i quickly dipped the clutch, turned the engine off and pulled in, restarted and it was fine! Would i be right in thinking its more likely to be electrical than an actual oil pressure problem? Had been sat at 70 on the motorway for a while and then turned onto an A-road if its any help!

Cheers, Adam

Nope, doesnt happen when stationary and i try not to lift of in the corners with a 24mm ARB in there :D It only happens when i lift off and its a single clunk. Engine mounts are all relatively new group N ones.

Oil level is fine, I changed it on the weekend with a new filter. Wasnt on a corner, just going down a straight road and not really accelerating hard either.

Two mysteries!

Easiest way to check for a buggered driveshaft is to grab the shaft and try to twist it with the car stationary. There should be no play, if there is then you'll need a new one.

Check the plug on the oil pressure switch and also the orange plug at the back of the engine for the oil light.

Well it survived the 12 car last night without major problems (flat battery meant 5 bump starts through the event though). The knocking didnt get any worse so i'll check all the suspension over tomorrow and the oil pressure light stayed off for the whole thing.

I had been wondering. It seems to wander on the motorway a bit, although i had put that down to tramlining due to 309 arms and parallel tracking. I'll have to have a poke around.
