Brake Pads Problem

Recommended Posts

BusEngineer

I bought a set of 266mm brakes off a guy on EBay about 12 months ago to fit to my 205

I ordered new discs and pads from Eurocarparts a fortnight ago and stupidly in the meantime, threw the pads i got with the brakes away

Well it turns out the pads ive ordered are wrong as they dont fit, they are way too long!

So ive just been back up to Eurocarparts and got some others and these are wrong too

So i need to know which pads i need, as im getting really frustrated!

I think ive found them on Brakeparts but im not sure, the ones i think are BPS2320

Am i right?? (its says rare by them!)

These are the calipers i have (54mm piston, just measured)

What are they off, i thought they were 306 but im beginning to have my doubts although they do fit my 266mm discs

Secondly are they any good, or do i need a different sort of 266mm set up?

I think we tried all the S16 pads while i was at Eurocarparts, they're about 130mm long whereas i think these need to be about 98mm (thats what ive measured since ive got home)

S16 pads are not 130mm long, they are 98mm as you said, it might be the European S16 that is confusing matters, AKA the gti6 283mm brakes.

They're definitely S16 callipers, later 405's used the same pad pattern and calliper body with a different yoke and offset disc, but still 266mm diameter.

I find them perfectly adequate on my gti6 engined ZX which would weigh about 200 kilos or so more than your 205, I run a set of Miles's braided lines Bendix dot 4 and Textar pads on the frotn and o.e Peugeot supplied Bendix rear pads.

They're standard fit to my ZX, and that reg number gives me only one part number - 101545258

not sure if this link will work for yo - http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Citroen_...fa6878&BKPA

option 2!

this site might help, as they've a pretty good search function for pads, together with illustrations (you can search for pads of known dimensions, as well as car model)

http://www.apecbraking.co.uk/index.php

ed. sorry, sounds as though it's already sorted

ed. may be not..

They are Pagid pads are they known for not fitting very well??

Ill upload a couple of pics to show what i mean, but they look like they need 2mm grinding off the end!!

Padgid make some great pads, just incorrect listings by ECP! whats the actual length of the pad compared to the carrier?

The spring on the correct fitment ones don't have a tab that protrudes anywhere near that far above the line of the pads.

I have some APEC ones from my ZX to hand, also the textar box.

Oh

That leaves me in sh*t creek!

The box has the right part number on the ECP sticker, and a bin number that corresponds to the Pagid sticker on the other end

But the Pagid sticker also says CITREON ZX Range 91-97

That cant be rights can it?? Surely the entire range doesnt have the same pads!
