Its as easy as any head swap but the head needs a skim & the inlet ports reshaping to suit the 205 GTI inlet manifold.

Anthony has done this on his car & its been fine for a while taking several trackdays in its stride without any issues.

The following topics have abit more info on them along with some thoughts on the swap;

The attachment here (right click, save target as) has the flow graphs done by QEP comparing the two heads.

You have to decide which head gasket to use to allow for the difference in chamber size between the XU9 & XU10 head )83mm & 86mm). Both have been used & worked fine but also both have failed so its your choice but I suspect largely downto prepartion & cleanliness for those that have failed.

I've got a head (no cam) that was checked over by QEP & had the ports reshaped from when I was going to build a 2044cc iron block 8v engine but it would still need a skim if you're interested.

Graham.

thanks for the links there,

they make for interesting reading, there seem to many many for and against with this one lol

personally i quite like the idea.

i am interested in the head you have but in no position to buy at this time... however what sort of price are you looking at? i'm buying a 2nd 1900 8v block soon so there is a chance it could go on that.e

sorry if it sounds a silly question but will a MI16 throttle body fit on to the GTi inlet? i here that they are? are there any gain to be had by this or is it a waste of time?

also when you say as easy as any head swap? is it as easy as unbolt on one bolt on new one (so to speak)
