How Much Better Do You Think My New Suspension Will Be?

Recommended Posts

BusEngineer

Im slowly rebuilding my 205 after 12 months sitting idle and sorted all the front suspension over the weekend

Fitted Biltein shockers, Koni springs, new Grp N top mount rubbers, new top mount bearings (SKF), new front wheel bearings, a 309 front ARB (to match my 24mm 306 one thats going in the rear beam) and 266 mm brakes

So heres how it looks

Sorry about the sketchy pic quality

Now for the worrying bit . . . . heres what i took off

Its still sat on my bench compressed like that now, and this pic was taken 2 weeks ago!!

Broken spring from OS

And a disturbingly buggered top mount bearing (both sides were like this!)

Enjoy the pics as much as im enjoying bringing my 205 back to life

The difference will be night and day! How on earth did you manage to drive it before you took it off the road?

nowt wrong with the damper, they're not gas charged

bearing doesn't look bad at all, still intact, the lower rave seems to be still in the top spring pan.

broken spring isn't good mind!

That bearings looks fecked to me, you can see the rust has truned the grease brown & a couple of the bearings in the pics below look worn.

I wouldn't reuse it anyway for the sake of ~£10 for a new one.

The broken spring is the biggest concern, rust on a shocker thats been on the car for 15 years+ isn't a worry except for cosmetic appearance.

Graham.
