Oil Breather Capped?!

Recommended Posts

Guest robyp25

205 mi16,

hi new to peugeots so hope this isn't a silly post.

Oil breather, normally is piped to the air inlet i believe, mine is capped off at air inlet pipework.

the oil breather cap has a long tube trailing to the back of the engine to open air, i'm sure this isn't right. Does anyone know why it may have been done, pros, cons or is it bodge up? grateful for any help robyp

It will have been done to stop the oil getting blown into your inlet and gunking it up I would think.

Not the best way to sort it out,as the breather gasses/fumes are now not getting sucked out of the engines block, they are relying on the blow-by from piston rings to push them out :P

You need a proper catch can/oil seperator to sort it properly
