205 Xs Caliper And Disks Question

Recommended Posts

tdr_1976

Hi,

After a run on the back roads the other evening with my navigator, I experienced brake fade again.

I've decided that I have to go to vented cross drilled/grooved disks to try and give additional cooling to the disks and pads.

My question is;

I know that the 1.6 GTi Carriers will fit straight onto my caliper piston assembly [std 205 XS one], but I'm not sure whether the disks are a straight on fit?

I've upgraded my brake fluid spec from DOT 4 to DOT 5.1 last week, it's helped, but I still get fade.

no probs, as said many many times on the forum, base model hubs are the same offset as the 1.9, though have the same smaller spline pattern as the 1.6 ;)

Thanks for the explanation mate!

I wasn't sure why the 1.9 would fit, whilst I was using 1.6 carriers!
