Fitting New Rear Hub

Recommended Posts

englishmaninwales

1992 1.9 205gti. I am about to fit a new rear hub/bearing assembly. On removal of the old unit I was expecting to find a washer between the hub nut and bearing, but there was none! Is this correct? The new hub/bearing feels like it will be a tight fit on the stub axle.....just a case of persuasion with hammer and wood drift?

Thanks!

Malcolm

Hi Jord

As I thought! Missing washer (2) and ideally i need to replace the thrust plate ©- neither in the SKF hub kit! I see you are in Mold! Im in Ruthin and need the bits asap as my daughter is planning a TD on Sunday and Loton Park hillcimb event next weekend

Please let me know if you have the bits!

Although the drawing suggests there should be a washer, as does general engineering practise, I have come across quite a few cars that look not to have had this from the factory.

Where did you get the kits from? I pulled my hub off yesterday and most of the bearings fell out, it does all go back together but would it be reccomended to replace anyway?
