You need a combined speedo drive,it has the outlet for your cable, and the electrical plug/sensor for ECU :)

On E-Bay for just under £40 new.

I searched two scrap yards on Monday, looked at circa 40 306's and 106's and not one combined speedo drive to be found :(

I'd avoid the Ebay sensor. I bought one and it quite simply does not fit the casing is slightly too bit to fit in the recess

This is a quote from the thread I last yeared regarding the 306 VSS

Citroen zx 16v, some base model 306s, i think phase1 rallyes aswell bt i stand to be corrected on that 1.. Theres plenty out there if your willing to go get dirty for 30mins at a scrapyard!!

If you'd checked the For Sale section yesterday, I was selling one - sold already though I'm afraid.

For what it's worth though, the GTi-6 engine will work without it - it just behaves a little oddly at low revs/load and when coming back down to idle - so you could get the car on the road and change it later when you manage to lay your hands on one.
