Sounds about right, there has been a spate of people breaking 205s on eBay for the past few years and I think that killed quite a lot of them off.

Wow thats not many! If you parked them end to end they'd only stretch for about 16 miles.

It might be a little bit less than that because my friend has one that is in his barn sorn'd but it has had a bit of a battle with a hedge and a tree so its slightly shorther

I realised that but it would be impractical trying to get all the sorn ones onto a stretch of road at one time.

 

Getting 4,000 roadworthy gti's in one place, now that would be easy

 

err well... maybe not easy... but possible... sort of...

It would be good to have them all in a line, it would settle the "what colours rarest" "how many reds are left" type questions.

A about 3 years back there were 12000 GTIs, so now there are 8000. I wouldn't class them as that rare now. Rare are things like Mi16x4's and even Gentrys and CTIs

Interesting to see how few auto GTI's are running/sorned. I reckon most of that lot have been on ebay over the past year or so!

 

I don't believe those figures. If they are correct, one third of the entire country's auto gti's are currently sat on my drive!!!

 

Over the last few years, my wife has cataloged all the auto gti's that have popped up and has a count of 16 205's, 2 205 cti's and 9 309's.

I remember looking into these DVLA stats when I was a member of club G40. Bear in mind they were around 500 Polo G40's officially bought to the UK, a few years a go it was around 260 that were left either taxed and SORN'd. I wondered why it took me a while to find a good one... these 205 GTI's are common as muck

Probably BUT NOT the taxed one even though it has brand new MOT, being a student im always skint at the moment but will try and get it taxed insured thru summer cant let all these hairdressers have all the fun !
