Guess How May Gti's Are Left In The Uk?

Recommended Posts

AJA_GTi

Based on an interesting question by 'alfer' in another thread I emailed the government vehicle statistics people and amazingly got a quick reply and spreadsheet with data from September 2009.

Hi Andrew,

Thank you for your enquiry.

Please find attached an excel spreadsheet which should provide you with the total number of registered and SORN’d (Statuary Off-Road Notification) vehicles in Great Britain which are Peugeot 205 GTI’s.

If you would like any further information on this Make and Model, I would recommend that you get in touch with DVLA’s business agents whom should be able to undertake any analysis that you may require. Their contact details can be viewed using the web link below:

http://www.businesslink.gov.uk/bdotg/actio...emId=1082032477

Please note that they normally charge for such requests.

Please do not hesitate to contact me should you require any further information.

Best wishes,

Osman Beg

News to me. Maybe I'll turn into Baz and own a few more...

The prospect of never owning one scares me!

you have to, or the DVLA will send you a fine <_<

unless they were off the road well before sorn came into effect, then they'll be off the radar so to speak.

Rally cars all have to be road legal, i.e taxed (and MOT'd) unless of course they are historic and tax free, but they still need to display a current disc and the SORN rules still apply to them.

Well this forum has 4,896 members, although not all in this country.

With the track-only cars SORN'd I think WE have a lot of these covered. Several of us have a couple... <_<

I sorn mine over the winter and retax it ready for the new year in or around end of March. Normally 6 mths and then its tucked away again.

But there must also be quite a number that are untaxed/unsorned.

Interesting to see how few auto GTI's are running/sorned. I reckon most of that lot have been on ebay over the past year or so!

Estimated UK population is currently circa 62,000,000 so if you are running a GTi at the moment you are 1 in 15,500 people!!

GOD I LOVE STATISTICS!!! <_<

in psooc torque mag, they had a breakdown of colours/engine sizes as well think it was last quarter mag.

Will dig out think there is even 10,000cc version apparently regsitered!!

May be a psooc commitee member may allow it to be posted up in this thread as well.

Not all of us own a GTi registered model though

I'd guess at 20% of those members are owners of a lower spec model, and bearing in mind any inactive users might have sold them to other members or scrapped them since :P

Statistically speaking B)

...and 0.1% of us own a higher model :P seeing as the Gentry cost more than a Gti new <_<

Thats what I do except I get a years tax and send back what I don't use for a refund, so at the moment ours is one of sorned ones, but it will hitting the roads again at the end of the month.
