Where To Buy Uprated Rod-bolts?

Recommended Posts

sub205

Hello,

i got a XU10J4R engine and want to uprate the conrod bolts. what rpm are the original good for? what do i need for, lets say, 7600rpm (i want no more than 7400-7500rpm, but a bit extra safety is ok)

Depends how sustained those RPM will be.

The XU10J4RS engine is limited to 7450 on early gti6's, and uses the same rod bolts, as were Mi16x4's, which had a longer stroke meaning higher piston speeds for a given rpm if I am correct.

Many people have higher rev limits than that on standard rods and mild cam upgrades, but I doubt many of them race.

Seems that checking on servicebox the rod bolts (0607 37) for the XU engines are all the same, as well as the XUD and DW engines.

ARP is the only company I know of that makes them, those more experienced in engine building may know of more, QEP, Miles, Sandy and many others could probably supply you a set

i dont think that the forces on the bolts is that different.

ok, the XU10 has 2mm less stroke, but on the other hand its got 3mm more piston size, more weight to accelerate/brake ... should be the same forces in both engine-types.
