Normal For A Gentry?

Recommended Posts

Guest lion_lady_lu

I find that unless I let my Gentry run for up to 5 mins – until she sits at around 800-1000 rpm – she will cut out at every give way, traffic light etc. And even when I have done this before driving off, she sometimes stalls just for the hell of it! I know that 205’s are temperamental (have had 3 x manual gtis but never an automatic) but it’s different with an automatic, because I can’t rev the engine to keep the revs up! I had thought of adjusting the idle rate, which I had to do on two of my previous cars to cure this problem, but I’m a bit wary of doing this on her low comp (I believe!) engine. Any ideas?

Yes, lambda or SAD. Although usual stuff may be worth doing - clean idle screw / throttle body etc. Could even be AFM, there are number of similar threads on here that may help you.

Thanks for coming back to me guys. Mmm...not sure what lambda or SAD are, let alone what to do with them! Miles, I'm surprised that Gentry's usually tick over ok - so I suppose there must be a problem with my girl... As to cleaning the idle screw etc - still beyond me, I'm afraid! ^_^ I'll have to see if my son can have a look at her.

I have had 4 Gentrys and never had a problem with tick over!!!!! Idle may also be a bit low.
