Couple Of Little Questions..

Recommended Posts

MerlinGTI

A couple of silly questions that I would like to know the answers to for personal car improvement purposes please...

First up:

My accelarator pedal/arm assembly is a good inch lower than the brake and clutch pedals. Thing is I literally bury it in carpet, theres no satisfying 'you hae reached the end of the pedal travel' feel, just carpet resistance.

My carpet and the sound proofing below are all secure and feel like they are in the right place.

What should I be looking at doing to raise it?

Secondally in the same vein, the plastic clamp on the bulkhead that allows the same pedal arm to pivot. My accelerator pedal has loads of wiggley play in it. Is this clamp/bracket suppost to have some kind of bush in it to prevent this?

Next up:

Is a passenger seat base cover (just the cover) Identical to a drivers one? Im looking to build a near perfect drivers seat, but pretty much all drivers seats now have buggered bolsters and so the leather is shagged.

Thanking you please

1 push go pedal to the floor, place heavy object on it then check to see if there's any more travel at the throttle bbody end. (is there too much slack on the cable?)

2 Yes the 2 sides are interchangeable

Sweet, ta Steve, will check that out.

Anyone got a pic of how their pedals sit in relation to each other?

Any ideas on my wiggle?

Any ideas on my wiggle?

It'll be the white square pedal housing which bolts onto the firewall  it's plastic part , remove the top cover held by two 10mm nuts , wrap around the pedal rod some plumbers Teflon tape (but not too much as it'll be too stiff) , grease up the pedal rod sliding areas inside the housing and refit back .. should work , or buy new pedal housing as you wish .. (the area inside the housing on which the pedal rod slides wears hence the wobbly feeling on the pedal ..)
