i'm 41 got my first 205 at 21 sold it at 34. Bought it back at 36 and still have it

I wanted a mini as my first car at 17, but got a 205 XS...luckily for me, dont think I could deal with patching rust every five minutes and trying to work on everything in that tiny space! Also dont think I could have moved house in a mini...

 

Had a year of confusion with a Rover 214 (to give it it's dues it was totally reliable and cheap to run, and not slow for a 1.4), but had a 205 MI16 as my fun car for half of that as well...

 

Still got a 205 at 24, Hopefully this one wont get written off like the last one.

Well i'm now 30 but i bought my GTI back in 2008 when i was 28. Lovely car and it's definately not going anywhere anytime soon

 

I nearly bought one back in '98/'99 but instead went the R5GTT route which got me into the whole tuning scene.

 

I've owned various different performance cars over the years since then but the GTI is still one of the most rewarding cars i've ever owned

Very similar to my story, wanted a mini, couldnt get one, got a poxy clio that i hated (they are CRAP) and then i got a 1.4 205 GR. EPIC LITTLE CAR. to be honest more reliable than my 1.9CTI or my 1.9GTI have been.

Have a Honda Accord 2L at the moment....needless to say my 205 is mid rebuilt and will be back asap, cant stand modern cars and i love my mad lil205, UNDYING CLASSIC!

had a 205 1.4 xr at 17, then a 1.6 gti at 18, then in no particular order 205 1.1, 1.9gti, 2.0 turbo, 1.8 d, 1.8Dturbo

19yrs bought my 1st road legal 205gti registered as 1600 but had a nice surprise under the bonnet (mi16) owned that for 4 yrs during which time had 4 309gti as run arounds 1, got wrote off 2nd was a heap 3rd was a goodwood got sold to fund 205 engine rebuild and 4th was used for parts for 205 ie rear bean suspension set-up interior and few other bits. then sold it bought a vx calibra redtop (hate vx now) had few merc's and now 27yrs old back to a 93k gti with mi16 fitted would like another goodwood tho

I learnt to drive in a D reg white 1600 gti in a field when I was 14 and my old man sold it for £100! It was stolen a week later.

 

I bought my first gti at 19 then another 6 months later, I wrote both off (idiot) and have had my red 1900 F reg (3rd gti) for 3 years and intend on keeping it for many more.

 

Im 23, a year older than my car.

Now at 25, ive been a lover of french hot hatches since my first car a Renault 5 GT Turbo at 19 years old, then bought a F reg 205 1.9 GTi which was written off for me by my local bin lorry !!! Sadly i then left the hot hatches behind and bought a Suzuki SJ Samurai (was going through an off roading stage) then sold that as i needed something that could do more than 55 on the motorway , so bought my first of 2 Mitsubishi Pajeros, then a year later i found a mint Renault 5 GT Turbo and proceeded to get the love back for hot hatches, i sold that due to insufficient funds to keep it on top of every problem it kept having and bought my second Pajero, then along came another R5 GT Turbo that i bought only due to the exeptional condition of the car...... I finally sold that 2 months ago as i was offered silly money for it so i bit his hand off and now im back owning a lovely Graphite Grey 205 1.9 GTi and plan to keep for the forseable future !!!!

I'm 25 next month, all of my cars have been french (more so out of chance, than love of the country)

 

I first had a renault megane, which was a s*it pile, then I had a Citroen Xsara 51 Plate - which I grew to hate, it was the stereotypical french car, cheap plastic interior and dodgy electrics - I love the day it was written off!

 

Then I went onto a 205 GT, more so because of the fact it had completed a rally from Plymouth to Dakar and looked hilarious, lasted about 4 months and I fell in love with the 205 again, moving onto my current STDT and maybe a GTI in the future.

im 18, passed my test about a year ago and after 3 106's (1.4 quiksilver, s1 1600 XSi, and a quiksilver with a GTi engine conversion) and a fiesta 1.3 im now wanting a 1900 GTi as a project car, im not afraid of some graft and plan on a bare shelling then a nut and bolt restoration with only engine and interior changes from OEM.
