Recommended Posts

Pugrich

The Management I want to use is from a 405 SRI 2,0 121 HP from Magneti Marelli

My target is:

Wasted Spark, no AFM

Motronic from an XU9JA ZX would probably be better.

I just know the XU9JA as a Jetronic without catalytic converter (lambda) with 128 BHP - Do you mean a Bosch Motronic 1.3 - I do have this at the moment.

No, Bosch Motronic 3.1 as found on non-CAT ZX Volcane 1.9i models - don't know if you got them in Austria or not, and they're getting pretty scarce over here now.

In Austria we have to use Cat since 1986 on new homologated vihicles! But Bosch Motronic 3.1 will be found on other Peugeots with CAT.

Anyone did the M3.1 conversion and whats the result? Is it nearly plug and play?

M3.1(aka MP3.1) didn't come with a CAT afaik, it was the last of the pre cat equipped ZX Volcanes, 405 SRI & BX GTI's that had it fitted.

I fitted it to mine, same as fitting the M1.3 or ML4.1 etc, only a few wires to join / match up with the 205 loom & you're away.

Works very well imo.

Sorry, link/thread is not working or is it caused by my comp?

Doesn't work for me either, I am running MP3.1 on my XU9JA.

I think you'd struggle to find a system that'll run straight on the 1.9 8 valve engine with a cat, all the Lambda sensor equipped systems I know of from a 1.9 XU have AFM

Do you know anyone that can map the MM or Bosch Systems? the 8v turbo system would work if mapped appropriately as it has a MAP and coilpack and a lambda.

Good luck finding one !

a 106 XSI uses a very similar system which would work with the components, but I dont know if it could be mapped to work with the XU engine.

I`ve got good connections to Pug breakers, I`ll check out which cars use this system tomorrow!

Anyone`s experienced in such an conversion? Is it usefull or just a waste of time and money? Do I get a better performance? Do I have to map this XU10J2Z management, the eningine is closed to my XU9JAZ?

I know, to many qustions, but I have to explore befor buying any parts.

thx Rich

It will work very well, the mapped ignition is a massive improvement over a distributor IMO, better torque + slight power improvement and better fuel economy, much nicer to drive in traffic, no kangarooing!

I can't comment on how well it will work without any adjustments to the mapping of the ECU though.

Link should work now.

To get the best from your car ideally you should remap the system but as the XU10J2 works fine on the original jetronic system from what a few people have said on here that have tried it (Atari boy is doing this now afaik) I expect it will work fine but if you'll get any extra power or economy from it is open to question without further work.

The magnetti marelli ecu can also be remapped & considered a better ecu than the MP3.1, much closer to a proper aftermarket ecu or so I understand.

TT205 is using the MM8P system remapped on his hillclimb car (1.9 XU9JA TB's) which makes very good power.

After a while of searching i`ve found a Pug 605 2,0 MP3.1 with Cat which hopefully will be delivered in a few days! :D

Witch flywheel will I need? The XU9JAZ (M1.3) or the XU10J2 (MP3.1) ???

Thx Rich

Any flywheel with the timing teeth ring so an M1.3 one will be fine.
