2 Din Players

Recommended Posts

treesimon

My girlfriend owns a Peugeot 207.

She's looking at removing the factory fitted cd player and fitting a 2 din- Cd, sat-nav and handsfree phone all in one touch screen jobby.

Does anyone know if she should notify her insurers because obvious the price of this bit of kit is dear, thieves would also like it to?

well if it got stolen, you probably wouldn't be able to claim for it if you hadn't informed your insurance.

Yes she should. It's a modification.

Insurers will use any excuse to avoid paying out, and a spoiler, alloy wheels, leathers seats, anything that would potentially make it different and more attractive potentially increases risk.

If you don't notify them - even if there is no extra premium - you have opened yourself up for issues if you ever have to make a claim.

Let them know to be safe. Some policies will cover audio equipment up to a certain value anyway, but i'm unsure if that includes non OE kit.

I agree that any car insurer will use any clause in not paying out.

For instance what if say a car had alloys and someone wanted to put different alloys/radio on this car, surely only the theft part of the insurance is not covered if it/they got stolen ? And if the car had an accident (own fault or third party fault) then the third party/fully comp insurance should still be covered ?
