Xu7 Crank In A Xu5 Block

Recommended Posts

Bally123

Guys

Question that came up as a result of an off the wall conversation, Will the crank from a 1.8 l XU7 fit the earlier XU5 block?

I guess rods and pistons "could" be an issue, maybe as simple as xu7 donor or maybe as complicated as machining deck heights etc....???

The idea is based around getting the 1.6 capacity up whilst using the original block.

Thanks for all your input

yes crank will fit, rods are exactly the same, part number and all!

but the pistons have a lower crown obviously, no need to do any machining to the block.

might as well stick the 1.9 crank rods and pistons in if you want increased capacity though (or just buy a 1.9)

Wow mega fast reply!

Thanks mate, that's usefull information and an easier mod than I expected - I totally agree 1.9 seems a more obvious way to go but who wants to be obvious

Pretty certain the blocks are the same across XU5/7/9 anyway?
