lemmingzappa 75 1 Cars Posted March 1, 2010 Took my rear lights off yesterday to find this: Not alot I can do about it though I guess, only thing i've done so far is dry it out with a hairdryer.
davepug205 7 Posted March 1, 2010 Ive repaired both sides on mine, just cut the rust out and made a plate to weld in, then covered in seam sealer and painted. It joins the rear bumper mount so you might have to make a full piece up. Just dont weld to close to the rear arch otherwise you might have to respray. lemmingzappa 75 1 Cars Posted March 1, 2010 I need new bumper mounts anyway as mine have rotted. Unfortunately I have no metal or welding skills

lemmingzappa 75 1 Cars Posted March 1, 2010 I seriously need to buy a welder and actually learn... but as per usual, funds are the main problem.

lemmingzappa 75 1 Cars Posted March 1, 2010 If this area is left is it likely to spread to somewhere more major ? I imagine it's quite hard to keep it dry due to water spray from underneath and rain from the light seals.

Is all the cutting and welding done from underneath the car ?
harryskid 193 Posted March 4, 2010 Did you cut the plate out and weld a whole homemade piece in ? Is all the cutting and welding done from underneath the car ? I made plates to size of damage welded from inside where i could and from underneath but i use to do welding when i did industrial heating work. Welding pipes was very good practise for this kind of thing. Harryskid
