Two Rear Beams 309 Gti Vs 309 Gti16v

Recommended Posts

Para

Hi there,

I'm looking for the rear beam from 309 GTI16V which is "better" then the one from 309GTI one. The problem is 16V is very difficult to find, much harder then 309 GTI one.

What I was thinking, is to use beam from 309GTI and upgrade it with the parts from 309GTI16 one. What I would like to know is which parts are different and worth to upgrade.

Thanks for help,

Mike

Thanks, MH for the pictures, I bought yesterday a GTI beam and I was wodnering how to recognize it. Those difference in casting are very important ? Peugeot went into lots of work by designing a "special" beam for GTI16

I can not say whether it's that important or not, but it's clear that gti16 casting is a bit different design.

Check out the photos, gti16 item is much stronger between beam tube and bushing seat, it also has 3 stud holes instead of two.

The additional hole (left one) adds an 'triangle' shape to beam-pressed metal clamp joint, making it a lot stiffer.

I guess the whole assembly flexes less, which is more than welcome..

I do not know how it compares with std, as I really do not remember how it drove in std install.
