Of all the engines you could fit, the VTS imo is the best one to get due to the power, newer less thrashed due to coming from the Xsara and not the GTi6.

Iv not seen many 205's with the 206 engine in though i have seen the 406 V6 engine in one, but can have too much over frontal weight due to the size of it.

Ps, try searching the project threads for more info and tips etc.

Have a good look through the projects section Craig and also in the XU modification section. Heaps in there.

There's a project in my signature (3 in fact), but basically the easiest swaps are higher output XU engines; in your case a 1.9 8v (with or without turbo), 2.0 8v, or the 16 valve Mi16 1.9 or 2.0, XU10J4R or J4RS (RS is the Xsara VTS or GTI6) lumps.

Some EW engines are suitable too, but a little harder to mount.

You can do higher CC with the iron block engines and add supercharging or turbocharging, or throttle bodies with aftermarket management. Not a fan of carbs personally. I would recommend a 10.8 or 11:1 Mi16 running 3-row management with a PeterT chip and his stage I inlet cam on a GTI6 inlet manifold. All of the parts are either straight OE (pretty cheap) swaps or excellent value items from PeterT in Australia. Catcam do a similar inlet cam but it's more expensive.

Go read and digest and get some ideas.
