Moving The Fuel Regulator (inj To Carb)

Recommended Posts

skinner2k3

I am running carbs using the orignal fuel inj pump and a regulator which drops the pressure from approx 40 psi (inj) to approx 7 psi, there is then a second reg to trim the pressure further down to 3.5psi ish.

There is a fuel supply and return to/from the first reg which is under the bonnet. Therefore if I were to replace the lines as it is currently plumbed I would have two high pressure fuel lines inside the car. That makes me uncomfortable not just in the wallet but also at the though of that much fuel rushing about at 40 psi.

I was thinking could I not relocate the first high pressure reg to under the boot floor thus requireing me to only run one length of low pressure fuel hose through the car?

I dont want the reg in the car as I will not have hose joins inside the cockpit of the car.

Cheers

Ben

could do away with the high pressure pump and use a lower pressure carb fuel pump.

That is an option yes.

Sticking with what I have for now though.

See any problems why I couldnt move it?

Just thought, I wonder how the fuel filter will be affected. Its the standard one so designed to see 40 odd psi. would fuel supplied at 7 psi get through??????

I like the idea, and cant see a prob with mounting under the boot floor, but you will have less joints to cause probs if you use a proper high volume low pressure fuel pump to feed carbs. Everyone has a way of doing things, though i never liked the idea of the twin reg setup.
