Oil Pressure Sender...

Recommended Posts

Could someone with 'Servicebox' possibly be able to tell me the part number and price for an 8V oil pressure sender? I need one for my GTI-6 conversion.

Thanks in advance

A few suggestions:

Go join Service Box yourself - click. You don't need a company name or VAT number; I didn't.

Also try using MiamiStu's online parts catalogue. Here's the actual link you need - item no. 13. B)

Download some of the searchable PDF docs I made here. In these, you can just type 'oil' or 'sender' into the Acrobat search box and it finds and highlights all items in the document for you. So if you needed a new water pump for example, you could just type 'pump' in, and it'll find all engine systems containing the word 'pump'. Wicked - the jungle is massive. :D

And...prepare yourself for a shock. Main dealer prices for these senders can be up to £60!

And (even more)...you need an adaptor to fit an 8v sender to an XU10 (GTI6) block as the thread size is different. Miles sells adaptors IIRC. But GTI6 oil pressure senders work anyway, so you could just use the one you have...if you have one. Not quite sure how accurate they are, but they do work.

I've given you all of the above rather than just look it up for you so you can help yourself much easier with any other needs in the future.

Personally I find MiamiStu's catalogue far quicker to use than service box, although service box has more capabilities, such as it being able to look for part numbers common across models. :)

The 8v sensor doesn;t fit the GTi6 engine thou without a adaptor.

As they a calibrated for the 306 clocks and not the Veglia clocks in the 205 they tend to under read by a fair amount and make you think you have a shagged engine :)

Indeed. Mine never got above half way on the dial.

I shall definitely be fitting an 8v sender with adaptor to my 2.2 engine when it swaps shells.

Funny how 'needle to the right' can mean good or bad, depending on the gauge in question. :)

EDIT: Just re-read my earlier post and noticed that I missed the link that shows the 8v sender. Try this.

ps adapter isnt the one that Ts the connection, just a straight adapter. So no oil pressure warning switch.

Hi Miles!

Mabe You can help me.

I saw the adapter on the e-bay shop. Can you tell me what are the size of the threads?

Is M10*1 for the sender and M16*1,5 for the switch at the end of the adapter?

I wrote a question about it on the bay, but no answer.

Tanks!
