Gaz Adjustable Rear Dampers

Recommended Posts

shalmaneser

I notice from most of the pics that people seem to be running their rear dampers (Gaz or otherwise) with the damper body 'down' (ie. attached to the swingarm).

the bushes are obviously different sizes, and mine only fit upside down - with the damper body attached to the beam mounts. This makes a certain amount of sense from an unsprung weight point of view, but I'm concerned that water and road grime is going to pool in the blue protective bits and cause the chromed stanchion to corrode which would bugger the seals eventually.

can you swap the bushes round so i can run the dampers the other way round? Or should I just not be worried?

EDIT: Just to clarify, mine are the other way round from this image...

Someone cocked up with the bushes? Twin tubes shouldn't be run upside down, and I doubt you've been given their monotube ones by mistake, they're a lot more money :)

Unless they bagged the gas chambers these days? I'd give 'em a ring and send a photo...

Someone cocked up with the bushes?

Don't they have different sized bushes like standard ones so they can't be fitted the wrong way up due to the different bolt size?

Seems like a nasty error if they are the same size bush outers at each end.

Graham.

The bushes are different at each end. There's no play, but they have to go on upside down.

Hmmm, thanks for your help guys, I'll give them a ring now.

EDIT: Just spoke to Gaz, who say you can just push out the bushes and swap 'em round, which I will be doing!
