Just Got Lorried

 By one of my own :) So, I need to source some OE parts, 'cos I'm sure that my companies insurance might try to convince me its not worth repairing.

A quick look says I'll need a F/O/S wing,h/lamp etc, bumper, lower front panel and possibly inner front panel. Luckily, the bonnets untouched. Any advices on where to obtain genuine parts please?

O/S wing is no longer available from Pug unless you use the earlier Non Hole type for the side repeater.

Hi Miles, its for my'92 L reg. Does that mean I would only have to put the hole in then? using the present one as a pattern. There are some on ebay, but I guess these are patterns that would fit nothing like original! How about the other parts I need?

Headlamp try GSF as they do valeo ones. Go Peugeot for the front indicator as they are £4 more than GSF just to be sure it is right. Bumpers are expensive so I would look fo a second hand genuine one and not bother with a GSF one.

bumpers are quite expensive, about £100 each i think... auto5 might do them cheaper?

Genuine bumpers are about £130+VAT at a dealer. If you ring round dealers you may find one in old stock and they will let you have it at cost which is about £67 from memory. Non GTI ones don't fit right and don't be surprised if a genuine GTI one doesn't have holes for the trim. Mine didn't and I had to drill them.

I don't know who makes Autofive ones so can't comment if they are real OE spec - I have just seen some naf ones in my time which wouldn't protect your car against a snowflake!

Yeah non GTi bumpers just don't sit right :) Get a decent condition used one and put some Plasticare on it, Good as new.

Car being collected tomorrow by large Plymouth car repairers for assessment. I'd have preferred to keep it at my work, but the garage has agreed to return it to me if things go pearshaped and I have to carry out repairs myself. I'm going to go the peugeot parts route anyway, to see what is available and strengthen any argument with negotiations. I'll know more in a day or so, but I'm straight on here if they say "repairs not viable" for any best advices.

Neat Autos got hold of the proper Fibreglass reinforced plastic bumpers middle of last year, they are the closest to o.e I've seen from an aftermarket source and a hell of a lot cheaper, the Auto5 ones were just sourced from GSF last I heard, they'd be the flimsy plastic ones Henry mentions.

I've found pattern parts don't fit well in my experience based on a bumper, wing and bonnet, to the point that i'd rather use secondhand genuine than new pattern bits.
