106 Gti Gearboxes

Can anybody please briefly explain to me the ratios in ma boxes?

 

i know a 1.4 xsi box is closer ratio than a 1600 gti box.

 

what other boxes are there which are closer ratio'?

The expensive S1 rallye box is shorter, actually the same ratios as the XSi, I think with most of the boxes for the sporty models only the F/D changed.

the s1 106 rallye box is shortest but try get hold of the 205 xs or i think xt box for cheaper.

Hey, i didnt want a start a new thread for the question about to ask and its also along lines of gearboxes.

 

Would an XS gear box fit onto an Mi16 engine?, and another question is, would it be worth it? Thanks

no it wont fit and I definitely wouldn't put any thought whatsoever into making it fit, they're crap to be frank!

i have never bother to look realy, but what is the diffrence in ratios between the 106gti and xs box? and is it jst the final driver or gears are diffrent aswell?

S2 Rallye/1.6 XSi

1.4 XSi is the box most people go after, as its inbetween and still bearable on the motorway! I've owned most of them and my XSi/AX GT box has been the best by far!

 

S2 Rallye was still to long for me!

 

1.4 XSi is quite hard to come by, but if you look they can be found. I picked up 5 in one weekend! Payed less than £200 for the job lot and then sold them on at £200 each lol!
